CKCS Parents:
For this summer, and the next three school years, we will be using a new online supplemental math and language arts tool called IXL. During the 2016-17 school year a number of our teachers at both the elementary and middle school level piloted IXL. The response from students and teachers was overwhelmingly positive!
Our Parent Round Table graciously funded licenses for all of our students for the next three years! Thank you parents for providing this educational opportunity for our students.
The goal is for students to use this program over the summer to help minimize the “summer slide” that often happens when students are not practicing their skills during the summer time.
Your child’s teacher will provide them with their login information and show them how to log in to the IXL Program. Once logged in, the students will be able to access various skills based on their grade level. We ask that students focus on practicing skills that are from the grade level they just completed. The program will not teach the students initially how to complete a task, but if they get a problem wrong, it will show them the correct way to answer it. Ultimately, practicing any of the grade level skills can be beneficial. We hope all students use this program this summer.
In an effort to make this fun for the students and to give the students an incentive to practice, we have attached information regarding the “Summer Math Challenge”. This is set up as an all school challenge that we hope all students participate in.
IXL Login information will be sent home in your child’s report card. Please look for this to gain access over the summer.
Below is some information that will help you with logging in to the CKCS IXL Account:
*If you do not have access to a computer at home, you can access IXL from any computer, i.e., public libraries, Boys & Girls Club.

Below is some information that will help you with logging in to the CKCS IXL Account:
- If you type in the general IXL url, your child will need to add "@core" to the end of his/her username. www.ixl.com example: username: nboedeker@core
- If you type in the following url, specifying a CKCS login, then the "@core" is already displayed for you, so you do not need to type it in again. (You should see "Core Knowledge Charter School" in large font on this page.)
*If you do not have access to a computer at home, you can access IXL from any computer, i.e., public libraries, Boys & Girls Club.
